July 17, 18, & 19
The FREE 3-Day Event Transforming How Educators See Play
Learn the observation framework that makes the learning in play impossible to miss.
Sally has been featured on:
A life-changing method
Every educator knows the learning in play is real. Almost none of us were given the words to prove it.
This framework gives you the words.
It rests on a simple idea most systems have forgotten. Play is not a break from the curriculum. Play is the curriculum. And there is research to back that up.
You will learn a way of watching. Three lenses called Head, Heart, and Hands. Once you know what each one is looking for, you cannot unsee it.
Then you will learn to name that work. Seven domains of learning are hiding inside ordinary play.
A method simple enough for tomorrow, strong enough for your whole career.
Here's a sneak peek at each session.
You will watch real footage of children playing at the Hummingbird Cottage.
DAY 1
SESSION 1
Why Play Is the Real Curriculum
Play is not a break from learning. Play is the curriculum, and this session shows you the research that proves it.
SESSION 2
The Three-Step Framework
Learn to observe play for the learning it holds. This is the foundation of my whole approach.
SESSION 3
The Seven Domains
Learn to see and name the academic learning that naturally lives in play. This is where the magic happens!
SESSION 4
Playdough
Watch one playdough invitation move through the whole framework, so you see exactly how the method works from start to finish.
DAY 2
SESSION 1
Block Play
See how a child balancing one block on another is holding a mathematical relationship in their hands, the math no worksheet can teach.
SESSION 2
Dramatic Play
Witness how children stepping into other roles build language, self-regulation, and the ability to hold ideas in mind, the groundwork every classroom skill rests on.
SESSION 3
Painting
See how children sharing one canvas negotiate, plan, and problem-solve together, building the thinking skills that hold up all later learning.
SESSION 4
Small World Play
Watch how a child arranging tiny figures in a make-believe world is building the architecture of literacy, the deepest pre-reading work there is.
DAY 3
SESSION 1
Light and Shadow Play
Observe how a child moving an object through light is testing a real theory about cause and effect, doing the work of a scientist.
SESSION 2
Outdoor Play
Notice how a child navigating uneven ground, tree stumps and more are judging distance, and testing what their body can do is building the gross motor and executive functioning that later learning depends on.
SESSION 3
Learning Story
Discover the Learning Story process developed by Margaret Carr and expanded by Wendy Lee - a powerful way to make children's learning visible through thoughtful observation and storytelling.
SESSION 4
Analyzing Children's Play:
Learn to walk any moment of play through the method step by step, so reading the learning becomes second nature rather than guesswork.
The truth is, NO ONE ever taught most of us HOW to see the learning hidden inside play.
Is this you?
😐
"I am so tired of defending play."
😬
"Maybe I should just do what
everyone else does."
😰
"Why does nobody else see what I see?"
Meet the Trainer
Hi, I’m SALLY - Your EVENT TRAINER!
Sally Haughey is the founder of Wunderled and the creator of the child-led planning and observation method taught inside the Child-Led Mastery Academy.
Her authority comes from nearly three decades working directly with young children, first as a Waldorf-trained teacher and then across every kind of early childhood setting. Three decades of watching, teaching, questioning, and testing became the raw material for the method she teaches today.
Sally spent years building a way to see the academic learning hidden in ordinary play and to name it in language anyone can understand. What began as instinct in the classroom became a method other educators could learn and use.
Today that work lives at the Hummingbird Cottage, her studio and living laboratory, where she films real children at real play and walks educators through exactly what she sees. She is the author of Nurturing Brilliance, and through Wunderled she teaches educators in more than 120 countries to trust their own eyes, defend the power of play, and make the invisible learning visible.
